Advices for after a Blefaroplasty (eyelid surgery)
Guadalupe Medical Business Group thinks it's important that you follow the next advices so your surgery is completely successful.
- You have to rest in bed for the first 12 hours after the surgery.
- You diet can be as regular (except for special cases).
- We recommend to have a towel with ice over the eyelids and forehead for the first 48 hours.
- Wear dark glasses when you are exposed to sunlight.
- Four days after the surgery the doctor must take off the stitches. Schedule the appointment with our secretary.
- If you feel any pain, take regular analgesic except for Aspirin.
- If you get fever over 38°C take an analgesic. If it continues contact your doctor immediately.,
- Apply during the first and second day compresses cold or saline water, to lower the formation of bruises around the eyes, after this period apply compresses of warm water (not hot) in the eyes to accelerate or reduce inflammation.
- During the after surgery care avoid having any contact with animals ( dogs, cats, rabbits), at least for the first 20 days because this contact increases the chance of getting an infection.
- Avoid sun exposure until the swelling and the bruisers are gone.
- Avoid smoker areas.
- Avoid the heat from the kitchen or stove.
- Don't make any physical efforts for the first four days after the surgery.
- Don't drive any kind of vehicles the first week after the surgery.
