Advices for after an Otoplasty (ear surgery)

Guadalupe Medical Business Group thinks it's important that you follow the next advices so your surgery is completely successful.

You have to rest in bed for the first 12 hours after the surgery.

You have to wear an elastic bandage for three days.

After taking off the bandage, you have to keep wearing some kind of headband that will make support for the ears.

You can clean the operated area 24 hours before the surgery with water and soft soap.

It's important that you don't sleep on the sides until the doctor recommends or it doesn't cause any pain.

The surgery doesn't require any special diet.Eat as normal.

You have to assist to the controls as the doctor indicates. Call our secretary to schedule the appointment.

You will have a sensitivity lost which will disappear as days pass.

If you get fever over 38°C, just take an analgesic. If it continues contact your doctor immediately.

Protect your ears with a kind of hat, to avoid any local trauma. You can't take off the bandages.

The doctor will take them off when the time is right.

During the after surgery care avoid having any contact with animals ( dogs, cats, rabbits), at least for the first 20 days because this contact increases the chance of getting an infection.

Avoid to wet the micro-pore (paper tape) Don't make any effort for the first 8 days after the surgery.
